American Legion AAA State Baseball Chanute vs Ottawa 7-29-16

Starting the evening session for Day Three of the 2016 American Legion State Baseball Tournament was the fifth meeting of the year for Chanute and Ottawa. Prior to this meeting, the both teams came in with two wins each in the season series.

The game continued the tight nature of the series. Chanute opened the scoring in the Second Inning with one run and added one more in the Third. Then in the bottom of the Fifth, Ottawa rallied back and took the lead with three runs.

The fun was not over then, Chanute tied the game back up in the top of the Seventh and forced an extra frame. A six run top of the Eighth, including a Grand Slam home run, capped the game and sent Chanute on to the State Championship game.

Ottawa must now go through the Consolation Finals to keep their hopes of a repeat Championship alive.

Chanute now leads the season series three games to two.
