Alli Cash at 2012 KSHSAA State Track
The KSHSAA State Track Meet is a week away. I am starting to get ready for it by looking back at some of the photos from last year.
A couple of the photos I remember taking were of Shawnee Mission West’s Alli Cash as she ran for a new record in the 1600 Meters. As she was running, I recall noticing the time and one of the other photographers standing nearby said it could break a record. We looked in the program and sure enough, she was on pace to beat the old mark.
I made sure to get a few shots of her running as I knew it would be special.
Unfortunately, it was more special than I realized then. This evening The Kansas City Star’s Tod Palmer tweeted out this information:
SM West senior Alli Cash (stres fracture) won’t be able to run Friday at the Lawrence regional track meet. Her storied career is finished.

Seeing Alli Cash run again was one of the events I really wanted to cover this year.
The next time Alli is on a track, she will be wearing the green and yellow of Oregon. I think they might know a thing or two about good long distance runners there.
Here are two of the photos I took of Alli at the 2012 KSHSAA State Track Meet:
