Victoria Football vs Central Plains 9-2-17

Twenty-five hours to complete a game? That happens when Mother Nature decides to provide a light show during a game, in this case the Eight Man matchup between the Victoria Knights and the Central Plains Oilers.

The game kicked off at 7:00 PM on Friday evening but at the 6:15 mark in the second quarter, lighting struck close enough to the field to cause a delay. As more bolts flew through the sky, the coaches and officials decided to postpone restarting the game to 6:00 PM on Saturday.

At the appointed time, both teams came out and went through pre-game rituals and then lined up and restarted the game just like it was the previous evening with the ball near mid field and zero to zero showing on the scoreboard.

The Victoria Knights only took of two minutes from the clock before scoring the first points of the matchup. They took a 12 to 0 lead into the locker room for halftime.

The second half went similarly as the Knights piled on the points. Central Plains scored late in the game to prevent a shutout but fell to Victoria by a score of 34 to 8.

The final whistle for the game sounded at 7:55 PM Saturday evening. Almost 25 hours from when the game first kicked off.

2014 Hoisington Winter Jam Boys Championship Game – Victoria vs Minneapolis 1-25-14

The last game of Saturday night and the 2014 Hoisington Cardinal Winter Jam matched up the Victoria Knights with the Minneapolis Lions.

The First Half of the game was filled with fouls yet the scored stayed even as Minneapolis headed into the lockers carrying a one point lead. They came out and expanded that lead to win the game and the 2014 Hoisington Cardinal Winter Jam Boys Championship with a score of 57 to 47.

2014 Hoisington Winter Jam – Victoria Boys vs Hoisington 1-20-14

The final game of the first night of the 2014 Hoisington Winter Jam saw the hosting Hoisington Cardinals as the visitor to the Victoria Knights.

Both teams played hard in a physical, foul filled game. In the end, the Victoria Knights won the game by a score of 68 to 54.

Otis-Bison versus Victoria 10-5-12

The Victoria Knights traveled to Otis-Bison to face the Cougars in a District matchup.

Early on the both teams moved the ball well. At Halftime, the score was 22-6 Otis-Bison. The Cougars came out of the break and added to their lead. When the final horn sounded, Otis-Bison won with a score of 44-12.

The Cougars remain perfect in District play so far.

They will travel to play Western Plains next week.

2012 Hoisington Winter Jam: Ellsworth vs Victoria Boys

The Ellsworth Bearcats faced the Victoria Knights for the Boys Third Place game at the 2012 Hoisington Winter Jam.

This was an even, back-and-forth game between this two hard-working teams. In the end, it was the Victoria Knights pulling out the win with a 41 to 39 final score.

2012 Hoisington Winter Jam: Victoria vs Hoisington Boys

The Victoria Knights took on the hosting Hoisington Cardinals in the semi-finals of the 2012 Hoisington Winter Jam.

The Knights tried to keep up with the Cardinals but fell behind quickly. They did their best to close the gap in the second half, but could not get any closer than the final score of 65 to 51.

Victoria will face Ellsworth for Third Place. Hoisington will matchup against Minneapolis for a second consecutive year for the Championship.

2011 Keady Basketball Classic: Sacred Heart of Salina vs Macksville

The first Boys semifinal was a matchup between Class 1A Division I State Champions, the Macksville Mustangs, with Class 2A State Qualifiers, the Sacred Heart of Salina Knights.

Macksville quickly jumped out to a lead and never surrendered it. A 31 to 13 halftime lead turned into a 65 to 50 final score for the Mustangs.

Otis-Bison at Victoria (8-man Div II Regionals)

Otis-Bison traveled to Victoria to face a Central Prairie League rival for the right to continue on towards the State Championship.

It was a hard fought defensive battle with the Cougars taking an 6-0 lead into Halftime with the Knights.

After the break, the Knights got on the board with a touchdown. Then the Cougars came to life and scored three touchdowns to make the final score 26-6.

The Cougars will now face the Thunder Ridge Longhorns for a second time on Friday at Otis for the Sub-State title.
