The Ninth and final week of the regular season for football brought a lesson in things that are bigger than the game itself.

For a second year, the Lyons Lions and the Hoisington Cardinals faced off with heavy hearts. Last year, Lyons lost a player in a tragic fire. This year, a Hoisington player and his manager brother lost their father just days before the match up.

The Cardinals took control of the game from the start and did not let go until the final moments when Lyons recorded their first points. A 62 to 3 final score stood on the scoreboard, but a bigger gesture commanded notice.

As the teams filed past and shook hands, Lyons players would give an extra moment to #60 Jeremy Breit. They would express condolences and give encouragement, remembering their own grief and sadness from a year earlier.

Then both teams met up and joined hands in prayer. Just minutes earlier they fought each other, now they kneeled united as teammates and brothers to comfort someone in need.
