The Kiowa County Lady Mavericks squared off against the Hoisington Lady Cardinals in the opening round of the 2011 Keady Basketball Classic.
The Lady Mavericks hung around with the Lady Cardinals until the second half when Hoisington opened up a lead it never surrendered. The final score was 49 to 34.
Kiowa County will face Larned next and Hoisington will take on Otis-Bison.

Great Bend made the short trip up US-281 to play a junior varsity football game at Hoisington.
The game was very one-sided with Great Bend winning 41-0.

The Hoisington Cardinals started their 2011 season with a Saturday afternoon game with the Sedgwick Cardinals.
This game was a back and forth battle that went to overtime to decide it. Sedgwick won the game with a 2-point conversion to make it 22-21.

The 2011 Hoisington Winter Jam concluded with a Championship matchup of two undefeated Class 3A schools, Minneapolis and Hoisington.
The First Half of the contest was a tight battle with both teams trading baskets. In the Second Half, the Minneapolis Lions opened up the score on their strength in shooting Free-Throws.
In the end, the Lions handed the Hoisington Cardinals their first defeat of the year.

The Hoisington Cardinals faced the LaCrosse Leopards in a semi-final game at the 2011 Hoisington Winter Jam.
It was a close game with the Cardinals pulling away in the end to go to the Championship game.
