Ellinwood Boys versus Hoisington

A matchup of MCAA League rivals brought the Ellinwood Eagles to the home court of the Hoisington Cardinals.

It was fairly close first have with the Cardinals taking a lead into halftime that only grew wider after the break. The final score was Hoisington 54 Ellinwood 33.

Ellinwood Girls versus Hoisington

The Ellinwood Lady Eagles traveled to play their cross-Barton County rivals, the Hoisington Lady Cardinals.

The home-side Lady Cardinals jumped out to a large lead thanks to several three pointers. The Lady Eagles tried to claw some points back but the game ended with a final score of 55 to 26.

2012 Hoisington Winter Jam: Hoisington vs Minneapolis Boys

For a second year in a row, the Minneapolis Lions took on their hosts, the Hoisington Cardinals, at the 2012 Hoisington Winter Jam.

The two squads that stepped on the floor were different from last year’s and it showed in the end. Hoisington’s #4 Cody Stetler showed his dominance early on with blocked shots and a dunk. Fouls limited his playing later on, but by that time the game was in the Cardinals hands. The final score ended at 49 to 37 with the hosts being crowned Champions.

2012 Hoisington Winter Jam: Hoisington vs Russell Girls

The Russell Lady Broncos played the hosting Hoisington Lady Cardinals for the Girls Championship of the 2012 Hoisington Winter Jam.

The Lady Cardinals took the early in the game, but then good shooting by the Lady Broncos and foul trouble caused the game to end with a 42 to 32 Russell victory and the Championship.

2012 Hoisington Winter Jam: Victoria vs Hoisington Boys

The Victoria Knights took on the hosting Hoisington Cardinals in the semi-finals of the 2012 Hoisington Winter Jam.

The Knights tried to keep up with the Cardinals but fell behind quickly. They did their best to close the gap in the second half, but could not get any closer than the final score of 65 to 51.

Victoria will face Ellsworth for Third Place. Hoisington will matchup against Minneapolis for a second consecutive year for the Championship.

2012 Hoisington Winter Jam: Ellinwood vs Hoisington Girls

The Ellinwood Lady Eagles squared off against the hosting Hoisington Lady Cardinals in the semi-finals of the 2012 Hoisington Winter Jam.

Hoisington jumped to a quick lead but the Lady Eagles battled to try to close the gap. In the end Ellinwood could not contain Hoisington and the final score was 51 to 37 for the Lady Cardinals.

Ellinwood will face Otis-Bison for Third Place and Hoisington will take on Russell for the Championship.

Best of 2011

Another year has come to a close. 2011 was the first full year with me using my camera probably every month.

Many of you have seen these pictures before, but I thought I would pull out some of my favorites as a look back on a year seen through my camera.

A quick word of thanks to everyone who has visited my web-site this past year. I ended the year with a total of over 3,300 views on the site. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy days to look at my pictures. You have given me a challenge to surpass for 2012.

2011 Keady Basketball Classic: Hoisington Boys vs Larned

The final semifinal game of the 2011 Keady Basketball Classic pitted the Hoisington Cardinals against the hosting Larned Indians.

From the start it was a physical game dominated by Hoisington. The real story of the game was the number of fouls called. In the First Half alone, 36 fouls were called on both teams combined.

At the final whistle, Hoisington won with a score of 68 to 35.

2011 Keady Basketball Classic: Otis-Bison Girls vs Hoisington

The second Girls semifinal of the 2011 Keady Basketball Classic featured the Otis-Bison Lady Cougars against the Hoisington Lady Cardinals.

The Lady Cardinals took a commanding 21-4 lead into the locker room at half. In the Second Half, the Lady Cougars clawed back to within ten points at the final buzzer. The final score was 40-30 for the Lady Cardinals.

2011 Keady Basketball Classic: Kiowa County Boys vs Hoisington

The Kiowa County Mavericks started off their 2011 Keady Basketball Classic with a matchup against the Hoisington Cardinals.

The Cardinals took control of the game early and took off from there. Number 32, Derrick Kaiser, had an amazing game with only scoring seven baskets. All seven of those baskets came from behind the Three Point Line. He was one of the big reasons for a final score of 60 to 25.

Kiowa County will play Otis-Bison next and Hoisington will play tournament hosts, Larned.
