American Legion AAA State Baseball Championship Game 1 Ottawa vs Chanute 7-30-16

Four days in and the time has arrived to decide a champion for the 2016 American Legion Class AAA State Baseball Tournament. This year’s championship test will match up the Ottawa Arrows against Chanute.

The game started explosively with both teams combining for eleven runs and seeing both of their starting pitchers chased in just the First Inning. Chanute came out with the one run advantage. They held the lead until the top of the Fourth when Ottawa tied the game.

In the top of the Fifth, Ottawa brought the bats and grinder out a six run inning. The next inning saw them adding seven more runs to bring the final score to 19 to 7.

This game gave Chanute its first loss of the tournament, which means a second and final game takes place on Sunday.

The season series between the two teams now stands even at three games apiece, which a seventh and final game on Sunday will settle.
