4A Boys State Championship Quarterfinals: McPherson vs Ottawa

The final Quarterfinal game for the 2012 Class 4A Boys Tournament pitted the McPherson Bullpups against the Ottawa Cyclones.

Both teams took a few minutes to feel each other out and to score a single point. After trading points for a while, the Cyclones went into halftime with a ten point lead and they never looked back. The final score was 64 to 39. Ottawa will now play Fort Scott for a chance to play for the State Championship.

4A Boys State Championship Quarterfinals: Fort Scott versus Abilene

The Fort Scott Tigers and the Abilene Cowboys faced off in a Quarterfinal matchup in the 2012 KSHSAA Class 4A State Basketball Tournament.

Both teams kept the game fairly close until the Fourth Quarter. The game ended with the Fort Scott Tigers advancing to the Semifinals by a score of 72 to 63.

1A Division II State Basketball: Otis-Bison versus Greeley Co.

The Otis-Bison Cougars faced off with defending Class 1A Division II State Champions the Greeley County Jackrabbits in the Quarterfinal game of the 2012 State Tournament.

The game was a back and forth affair for most of three quarters, then the Cougars broke out for a commanding lead and held it to the end. The final score was 63 to 51.

Otis-Bison will now face the Hope Lions to decide who gets to play for the State Championship on Friday.

State Basketball Starts Today

The Otis-Bison Cougars are going to the 1A Division II State Basketball Tournament for a second year.

I made a banner for the team using some of the photos I took this season.

Otis-Bison Boys versus St. John

The Otis-Bison Cougars traveled to play the St. John Tigers in a Central Prairie League matchup.

The First Quarter started out close until St. John began to open up the lead by hitting three-point shots . The Tigers won over the Cougars with a score of 53 to 41.

Otis-Bison Girls versus St. John

The Otis-Bison Lady Cougars went on the road on a two game winning streak to play the St. John Lady Tigers.

Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers proved to be a tough opponent and the Lady Cougars fell by a final score of 45 to 28.

Ellinwood Boys versus Hoisington

A matchup of MCAA League rivals brought the Ellinwood Eagles to the home court of the Hoisington Cardinals.

It was fairly close first have with the Cardinals taking a lead into halftime that only grew wider after the break. The final score was Hoisington 54 Ellinwood 33.

Ellinwood Girls versus Hoisington

The Ellinwood Lady Eagles traveled to play their cross-Barton County rivals, the Hoisington Lady Cardinals.

The home-side Lady Cardinals jumped out to a large lead thanks to several three pointers. The Lady Eagles tried to claw some points back but the game ended with a final score of 55 to 26.

Otis-Bison Junior High Basketball at Central Plains

The Otis-Bison Junior High Cougar Cubs played their last regular season game at Central Plains Middle School.

The Oilers were dominant in all of the games that evening. Despite the stiff competition, the Cougar Cubs gave it their all and took the valuable lessons they could from the games.

2012 Hoisington Winter Jam: Hoisington vs Minneapolis Boys

For a second year in a row, the Minneapolis Lions took on their hosts, the Hoisington Cardinals, at the 2012 Hoisington Winter Jam.

The two squads that stepped on the floor were different from last year’s and it showed in the end. Hoisington’s #4 Cody Stetler showed his dominance early on with blocked shots and a dunk. Fouls limited his playing later on, but by that time the game was in the Cardinals hands. The final score ended at 49 to 37 with the hosts being crowned Champions.
