Ok, so I dipped my toe into the water of actually hosting my own domain and all. I do have to say that I did enjoy some of the freedom that came with it. Nothing like having complete control over the look and all.
Just one problem, it costs money. Sure there are cheap hosting companies out there. I actually found a great deal with West Host. But the one thing I did not like was having to live under a bandwith allowence. Then I saw something on LifeHacker about a Free Podcast Hosting and I took a look at it.
What the link on the LifeHacker page leads to is OurMedia.org. The goal of the site is to have a large, open hosting service for media files. Oh, and did I mention it’s free? Yeah, it will host files for free.
So if you want a place to put up a video file or a podcast or anything like that, this could be the place for you.
Granted you can’t run a full fledged site from it. But that’s what this site is for.
So I’m going to give this arrangement a try for a while. Time will see how it works out.
